Creation Evidence Expo Reaching Over One Million Persons

The genesis of the Creation Evidence Expo was in 2001 when Dr. Carl Baugh and Indianapolis Pastor Fredrick Boyd, Jr., met at the annual Home Missions Conference at Bible Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a pastor, Dr. Boyd soon realized that evolution is the doorway to atheism. He was concerned about those who became convinced that the Genesis account of our first parents, Adam and Eve, was a myth, and instead came to believe that we evolved from some hypothetical ape-like ancestor. He realized that the schools and colleges taught human evolution as fact, convincing many young people that Genesis is false. After doing some thinking and reading about the reasons for the exodus from the church, he realized one reason was the claimed evidence for human evolution. To stem the exodus from the church for this reason, especially of young persons, Pastor Boyd became convinced of the central importance of the creation issue.

In contrast to the stereotype of a white male creation scientist, Pastor Boyd, is a Black pastor, an unlikely leader of a successful creation organization. His success is partly because he is a dedicated, hardworking supporter committed to this issue. Also important is the fact that, as a pastor, in contrast to most scientists, he knows on a first name basis a large number of other church pastors. Consequently, with the unwavering support of his wife, who is both an attorney and an amazing pianist, Creation Expo has now served 1.1 million people in 20 countries and 26 states.

Creationists are especially concerned about racism, both in society and even in the Church. A central conclusion of the creation worldview is, we are all descendants of our first parents, Adam and Eve, thus we are all related. In contrast, one of the major sources of racism for over 150 years has been the teaching of evolutionism. An example is, according to the New York bestselling author Professor John Cornwell, Hitler believed that “Religion, Science’s enemy, is doomed by science” and, in Hitler’s words, “the best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.” As a Black man, Pastor Boyd took umbridge at the Nazi belief, and that of many Darwinists, as stated by the leading German evolutionary biologist, Alfred Ploetz, that “The intelligence of a White compared with that of a Negro, offered the same contrast as the intelligence of a Negro compared with that of a gorilla.” We now know where Hitler got his racist ideas.

Creation Evidence Expo is Born

On March 30, 2005, Pastor Boyd, preached, referred to 1 Peter 1:18-19, “We were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . . But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” He then declared, “I say that all who are in Christ Jesus are ‘blood brothers and sisters’.” From that day on, a leading American creationist, the White male head of the Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose, Texas, Dr. Carl Baugh, referred to Pastor Boyd as his “blood brother.”

The details were soon worked out for Dr. Carl Baugh to host a creation presentation in Indianapolis in September 2005. The Lord then brought together many people who were interested in this topic. The weekend was a tremendous time of fellowship, preaching, lecturing, and teaching on creation evidence. After this event, the men considered scheduling more creation evidence presentations in Indianapolis. After much work and prayer, the Creation Evidence Expo formally began in 2006, with the first event held on September 23, 2006, at the Indiana Convention Center. Approximately 2000 attendees came to the one-day presentation to hear presenters including Dr. Carl Baugh, Dr. Thomas Sharp, and Dr. Charles Jackson. I have had the honor of presenting at every Creation Expo event for the last decade. In 2024, Expo will be hosted by Charity (Mega)Church in Indianapolis, IN.

The goal of the Creation Evidence Expo is to present scientific evidence that supports the conclusion that God created humans and all life. With the assistance of many volunteers, since 2005 Creation Evidence Expo has hosted an annual exposition that brings together scientists and theologians to provide evidence on questions relating to biological, evolutionary claims, especially human evolution. Expo attendees explore the scientific evidence through presentations, books, audio and video instructional materials, and discussions. They present some of the enormous amount of evidence that God specifically designed humans and we did not descend from lower animals. God's Word is the ultimate authority which tells us about our origin. If every pastor followed Pastor Boyd’s lead, we could change America as Martin Luther King, Jr. did. Nations issue postage stamps to honor their heroes, and it is telling that close to 100 postage stamps worldwide have been issued honoring Dr. King.
